The LV 8096-30 Radar Tracking System adds on to the LV 8096-10 Basic Radar and the LV 8096-20 Radar Processor/Display to provide continuous tracking capability. Range tracking is achieved by means of the split range-gate technique, whereas angle tracking is accomplished using lobe switching (sequential lobing).
The tracking radar can operate in three different modes. In the Scan mode, the dual-feed parabolic antenna rotates at constant speed, allowing observation of targets on the PPI display. In the Manual mode, the operator can isolate a fixed or moving target and position an electronic marker (range gate) over the target echo signal. When the range gate straddles the target echo signal, the Lock mode can be activated in order for the system to autyomatically track the target in range and azimuth.
Several Electronic Counter Counter Measure (ECCM) features are also available, such as a switcheable lobing rate, a range tracking rate limiter in the range loop or the azimuth loop while the system is locked onto a target, and leading-edge range tracking.
