MULTI-BEAM ARRAY ANTENNA ADD-ON

The LV 9556 Multi-Beam Array Antenna (MBAA) Add-On is used in conjunction with the LV 8092 Antenna Training and Measuring System. It is designed to provide students with training in phased array antenna theory. The study of advanced antenna principles, used in the fields of radar imagery, satellite and space diversity communication systems is easily accomplished with this hands-on package. The MBAA, accompanying accessories, and courseware is offered as an add-on to the wide selection of antennas already included with the Lab-Volt Antenna Training and Measuring System.

The MBAA uses a microstrip Rotman lens to modify the phase shifts to a linear array of radiating elements. It can be used in single-beam mode or, with the use of the included power combiner, it can be operated with multiple beams. The antenna beam can be steered to various discrete directions by manually switching the RF input connector between the MBAA feed ports. Completely passive, requiring no power supply, the MBAA unit is designed to be mounted on the LV 9506 Antenna Positioner.

MBAA theory, design, antenna beam pattern characteristics, and beam combination effects are presented incrementally within the courseware exercises.
